[Video] HBO Vice Special On Patriot Groups – “We The People”

HBO has done a special regarding the growing number of Americans “Taking Up Arms and Joining Patriot Groups” as part of their Vice on HBO series.  The series first aired March 20th.  Hosted by Gianna Toboni, a correspondent from Brooklyn, NY it takes what they call an in depth look into this growing trend.

She states that these “Patriots” were apprehended due to missrepresentation in traditional media.  After a bit, they opened up to her and got to tell their story.

The patriot movement did not get much press until Obama took office in 2008 when the movement became “huge”.  She says they are fueled by the abuse of power through executive action and lenience on certain policies, specifically immigration.

She first debunks the myth that patriot groups and militias are “all white” as the groups she evaluated contained large numbers of hispanic and asian Americans.  The one group they will not allow into their movement are Muslim Americans.

One of the things she does is firearms training.  She claims their training was top knotch as some of them were former military including infantry and Special Ops.

She tells a story of patrolling the border with the militia and detaining illegal immigrants that (did not make the cut).  She says she believed them when they said; they are training for a day that they hope with never come and that they are not a direct threat to Washington DC.

She uses the Bundy Ranch incident as a confirmation of this claim.
