PTRD-41 Anti-tank rifle
The PTRD is a Soviet anti-tank rifle. It is a single shot,
bolt-action rifle, firing the massive 14.5x114mm round. While not very
effective against heavy armor, it is very effective against lightly armored
vehicles and you can carry more ammunition.
In 1939, the Soviets captured a polish AT rifle which proved
effective when used against the German Invasion of Poland. Vasily
Degtyaryov(The designer of the DP-28) copied various functions of both the
Panzerbuchse 38(German equivalent) and the Model 35(Polish version) .
The only downside of this weapon was the size of this
massive weapon(It weighed more than 17 kilo's) and it's massive muzzle blast,
since it fired 14.5x114mm rounds. This round was able to penetrate 40mm of
armor at a distance of 100m.
The PTRD is the longest rifle in-game and can penetrate
light armor. You can take down Infantry in 1 shot, a Jeep can take 2 hits (You
can one shot them sometimes with Infantry First badge) to take down and it can
even shoot down airplanes as well, often times doing more damage to vehicles
and infantry than the much larger 20mm rounds fired from tanks and AA guns. It
does decent damage to light tanks, being able to take them out at around 3-5
shots, however it is completely useless against most medium and all heavy tanks
(as it was not designed to destroy them in the first place, but merely disable
them by shooting weak points I.E. tracks), only being able to penetrate the
side armor of low tier medium tanks and tank destroyers when armed with Leonov
Bronya MAX rounds. It takes a long time before the massive 14.5x114mm round is
reloaded, so make sure to have cover and watch for nearby enemy infantry. It
also suffers from considerable amounts of sway while standing. Crouching
reduces this while being prone eliminates a lot of the sway.
