But, the matter of self-defense always bothered the minds of people, and thus, the Wasp was born.
It belongs to a group of non-barreled weaponry, where the role of the barrel makes up the bullet's shell.
Probably it's one of the most unusual and unique weapons you've ever seen and it's really exotic for westerners, this product of pure russian genius.
1. This is the side view. The Wasp is relatively large, kind of a medium-sized revolver with it's barrel cut off, around 440 g. It's made of plastic and steel. Inside the handle there's a lithium power unit, which powers the laser, the microchip and the electrical fuse. On the side there's the laser switch. The trigger has no lock.
2. The Wasp uses a derringer scheme - so, there are 4 rounds in 4 barrels. In the center there's a hole for the laser. The gun itself is very well made, durable and sturdy.

3. That's the core of the system. Wasp is a purely electronic device - the bullets are ignited by electric current - you can see those tips in the opened gun. The microchip in the gun step by step searches for a bullet ready to be fired, and ignites it. This guarntees that if you pull the trigger, and the first bullet that should be fired is damaged, the microchip will see it and send the current on a normal bullet. The proccess is mere milliseconds.
4. The bullets and gun compared to a pen. The Wasp fires 18x45 caliber ammo. The shell are pretty usual, but the bullet is not. While every other civil traumatic gun in the world fires 9 or 10mm purely rubber bullets, the Wasp's bullets are with a trick. To put it simple it has an arrow-shap e and a steel core, that gives it arround 100 joule, not the 30-40 the other have. So it's like a steel bullet wraped in rubber.
That is what makes the gun lethal. At first it was certified as non-lethal, but the practice soon had shown that at the distance of less then 4-5 meters this weapon, if the victim's shot in the body\neck\head is as lethal as a normal gun.
Aside this, the gun can fire lighting, disorienting (sound-light) and signal cartriges, making it a whole self-defence complex.
The process of loading is quick and simple.
Personally, I think that for civilians this gun is very good. It's surely better than a tazer, and it's quite lethal. And when not lethal, the results are amazing - the shots are equivalent of a person having taken a very good blow with an aluminum bat.
the photos are taken on a smartphone. the gun's mine. no fucking coryrights)
